Offering expert, student-centered teaching on all instruments, our Woodwinds, Brass, and Percussion program seeks to instill confidence and joy through the study of good technique, musicianship, and the performance of a wide variety of styles and composers. Whether you already are proficient in your instrument, or a beginner, we can help you find your unique instrumental voice.
Beginning with age-appropriate instruction on flute, recorder, and drums, students can explore larger, more complex instruments such as saxophone, clarinet, trombone, trumpet, and more as they mature and develop. Ensemble and group classes are also available in Third Street’s orchestras, jazz and rock bands, chamber groups, and our Wind Ensembles including the New York City Symphonic Band.
Students may opt for Suzuki approach-based lessons which pair individual instruction with a weekly Repertoire Class that immerses the student in the world of music with a group of their peers, or a traditionally taught class for those over 5, who have begun to read words.
