Third Street offers piano lessons for adults and kids in New York City that hope to learn to play or improve their piano playing. We offer both Suzuki method and traditional classes. For children as young as 2.5 years we offer weekly class sessions with friends in Piano Party, and at age 3.5, they can become part of our Suzuki Piano program, which pairs individual lessons with a weekly group class. Traditional lessons are available for students from ages 4 through adult, and are designed to fit individual needs and learning styles. For adults, we also offer a group adult piano class in addition to lessons. Other classes include Jazz Improvisation and Piano Ensemble in which students learn to play multi-player pieces. Our pianists can also join other ensembles such as our chamber, jazz, and rock ensembles.
One of the unique things about Third Street is our supportive community. Every music department has a program called Music hour in which students can perform a piece they are working on in a relaxed workshop atmosphere and get feedback from fellow students as well as faculty. We also have multiple recitals and other performance opportunities. Our piano faculty is made of world-class instructors who will work with you to bring out the best in your playing. Third Street also offers a certificate program based on the Royal Conservatory Music Development Program. This program is free and open to all piano students who take individual instruction at Third Street.
In the summertime, we also offer a piano workshop camp. You can read more about our programs here.
Third Street has been teaching piano lessons to New York City residents since 1894. We believe that music is a right and not a privilege and we have a robust financial aid program for those that qualify. We also have a variety of payment plans and structures available.
